Principal Welcome

Dear Babcock Families,

Welcome to D.W. Babcock School! My name is Anthony La Rue and I am very excited to be your new principal. It is a privilege and an honor to continue the work of educating your children at Babcock Elementary. We are blessed with a fantastic staff of dedicated teachers and classified support staff. I am confident that it will be another great year here at Babcock.

My family and I moved the summer of 2015 from the Bay Area to Sacramento. My wife and I have two young children. My daughter Nia is 5 years old and in TK. My son Dallas is 15 months. I cherish every moment with my family. When my daughter was born, I realized she is the first in my entire family to have two college educated parents.

As an educator, my goal is always to ensure every student receives a quality education. I started my educational career seventeen years ago and I am happy to say my first kindergarten class of students have graduated from college. I have spent the majority of my educational career in San Diego where I was born and raised. I graduated from San Diego State University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Please make sure to have your child at school each day on time and in uniform. We encourage daily attendance, as student achievement is directly related to school attendance. If your child is going to be absent, you must call the school (566-3415) to report it. According to state law the only absences which can be excused are those due to illness, medical appointments, and the death of an immediate family member and must be excused within 5 days.

On behalf of our outstanding staff, I would like to extend an invitation to you to visit our school, become a classroom volunteer, and become an active member of the PTA. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year of learning!

Onward and Upward,
